Art At The Mill

March - December: Receptions the final Friday of each month 6-9
History and art just seem to go together! That’s why utilizing space in the Mill to create a gallery of regional artists seems natural. Designed to promote artists and attract visitors to the Mill, the Friends non-profit offer month-long rotating art exhibitions and host wine receptions where everyone is invited to meet the artist, view and purchase work. When you purchase a piece of original artwork at the Mill, you are contributing to the non-profit and a regional artist.

Spring Open House

First weekend in May: Saturday & Sunday 11-5
Spring is the perfect time to celebrate National Preservation Month at Bear’s Mill! Tour the four-story working antique, walk the beautiful grounds and marvel at the ingenuity of our forefathers in utilizing the natural resources of the property to engineer and build the Mill and maintain its operations. Enjoy shopping the Mill Store & Gallery for new offerings in merchandise and art.

Legendary Fall Open House

First weekend in October: Saturday & Sunday 11-5
The Mill really shines during the season, as well it should! Harvest time was a time of celebration for agricultural communities. In keeping with tradition, we celebrate with guided tours and grinding demonstrations, bean soup and cornbread (made with the Mill’s famous cornmeal), art and live music, pumpkins, crunchy leaves and a walk in the woods.

Christmas Preview

Third weekend in November: Saturday & Sunday 11-5
Designed to give visitors a “’preview’ of the holiday riches that abound in the Mill Store & Gallery, it is decked out in full holiday attire awaiting your perusal. This is the perfect time to see many of the new luxuries offered for the season. Don’t forget; the Mill Store buyers have an eye trained for items ‘made in the USA’, handmade and art. So, expect to see beautiful, unusual and one of a kind. Surprise discounts are offered!

Candlelight Walk

First Friday evening in December 6-10
A chill in the air, the aroma of fresh cedar, luminaries reflecting off the millrace. Follow the path to a crackling bonfire in the woods with cookies and hot chocolate. All this adds to the romance of a holiday evening in the country. Inside the Mill, take part in the joviality of the hosts while enjoying gourmet coffee and holiday music. Something for everyone with the spirit of a true old fashioned Christmas!
